Window to Eternity’s Threshold Rochelle Sennet (2024)

In this third volume of her Bach to Black series, Sennet continues her project of recording multi-movement works by Black composers in combination and juxtaposition with the suites of J.S. Bach. This new volume captures the world premiere of James Lee III's Window to Eternity's Threshold, as well as the world premiere recording of Adolphus Hailstork's Five Friends: Suite for Piano. The album also features pieces by Margaret Bonds, Montague Ring, Nkeiru Okoye, Betty Jackson King and William Grant Still.

Newly announced works by John Luther Adams, Camille El Bacha, Gloria Coates, Stewart Goodyear, Adolphus Hailstork, Molly Joyce, Christopher Tyler Nickel, Immanuel Wilkins, Agata Zubel, and Segev herself join the previously announced diverse compositional voices of Timo Andres, Avner Dorman, James Lee III, Angélica Negrón, Fernando Otero, and Bruce Wolosoff.

Threads (2022)

This project was the weaving together of process, sound, story, and community.  The repertoire chosen for the accompanying CD was chosen with each in mind and explores the soundscapes of Chad Hughes, James Lee III, and Adolphus Hailstork. The music and concept served as a catalyst to engage with poet Shannon Gibney and students from Bancroft Elementary School in Minneapolis, MN.

Recuerdos Diaspóricos (2022)

“Recuerdos Diaspóricos” is Spanish for Diasporic Memories. This work was composed for the virtuoso Cuban pianist Adonis Gonzalez. As the title suggests, this work is a reference to diaspora communities and in particular, the African diaspora. The music takes one on a journey of rhythmic fantasy and images inspired by various African diaspora communities in North and South America, the Caribbean, and other parts of Latin America.
